I need to grow grass on my back garden space in a hurry I have taken the space back to earth no weeds or such like what is the best way to go.

If you're in a hurry, turf it - but keep it well watered, and if you're in drought still (as we are in West London, despite the showers of rain) soak the soil before laying the turf with a sprinkler.
