Answers
Officially called "cat facing", and it has a variety of causes, but, as Sbg says, not harmful to the taste of the fruit. Larger varieties tend to be more susceptible to it than mid-size ones, but I've even seen it on cherry toms.

this is due to irregular cell division as the fruit was growing. apart from looking odd they will be perfectly edible.
