I have just bought a hakuro-nishiki, it has wax on some of the branches, what is it there for and should i scrape it off? Annette Vernon

you often get this wax when you buy some ornimentle trees and shrubs wear they use one plants roots stock on anothers top bit lol .

As the others say, leave it there - its usually over the graft point.

No the wax was to protect the tree whilst in transit it will wear away!
