Nerines. I was hoping that this 2nd summer that the nerines I planted at the base of a south facing wall would flower but though the foliage died down in the summer it looks like only foliage growing again. They may not get enough direct sun now as there are some shrubs now casting late afternoon shade . If I was to move them when would be the best time.

Yes I think they are but will check in daylight. We've had quite a good summer up here but whether they have had enough sun ??

Mine are in pot in a SW facing corner so don't get the sun until late morning but they flower well every year. They like a well drained spot so perhaps perhaps they might do better in a pot? You might have to protect it in winter up in Yorkshire.

I think I'll move them to a pot but when would be the best time now or in the spring.

Best time is when they are dormant.

mine are against a wall and until I kept the foliage from other plants away they never flowered. these last 2 years I have deliberately left the are less planted and I now have flowers. It is unusual to get leaves at this time of year, are they not the beginning of the flower stalk?

Thanks for replies. It's definitely foliage, but I think they were shaded so I'm going to move them for next year probably into a pot.

Did you plant them with the top half of the bulb out of the soil? They do need to have the bulb baked to initiate flower bud development.
