Main stem of Cercis canadiensis. All branches showed signs of dying back and were brittle. Is this Verticilium wilt? Would a willow be affected if planted near same spot?

Hi, welcome to GoY, this looks very much like verticillium wilt, to which Cercis canadiensis is prone, salix species on the other hand, are not prone to it, butdo have quite a list of pests and diseases, to which they are prone, Derek.
