Is it unusual for an apple tree to start flowering again in October ??

Hi, welcome to GoY, yes I agree with Bamboo, I have noticed today that I have a Ceanothus, Rhododendron, Spirea arguta, and 2 Viburnum shrubs flowering now, rather than spring, Derek.

Sometimes weird is good! We're having the first "normal" fall that we have had in almost 20 years. In recent years, it has been a lot hotter than this!

Hmm, interesting photograph, doesn't look like any apple tree I've ever seen.... as for its flowering now, well, these days, its anybody's guess when plants will flower, there are increasing reports of fruiting trees flowering when they shouldn't, so although this might once have been a rare event, it is becoming much more common - and expected to increase in incidence as the climate warms more.
