I was sent a monkey puzzle tree seedling as a gift. I live in Idaho near the Oregon border and I want to give this special tree a fair start. Should I plant it in a pot and keep it in the house until it get better established? Or go ahead and plant it outside? I have tried to study up on this way cool tree but I'm still a bit (puzzled) about it's care.

I wasn't sure so put ' Araucaria araucana' ( thats its name --- lovely isn't it!)
into google and clicked on care, the first site I chose was called 'easy tropicals' and seemed to answer your question, not sure if its in Goypedia, I'll check for you

Unfortunately, Monkey Puzzle is only hardy at that latitude near the coast. Better as an indoor-outdoor tree in your area. I'd plant a White Fir, instead.

How do I say thanks?
