Yes, if they're hardy bush fuchsias. I cut my down by about half once they've finished flowering (usually in November where I am), and then down almost to the ground when new growth appears in spring.

One useful thing about leaving the stems on over the winter is that they help to retain any mulch you can put on for frost protection - dead leaves, fern fronds etc. (The leaves don't blow about s much if they are chopped by the lawnmover first)

Best not cut this time of year, as others say, leave them alone and cut when you see growth appearing in spring.

Yes,but it's usually done in spring, when you see new growth appearing from the base ..I leave the old stems on,and give them a good mulch, which helps to protect the plant in winter...If they are tender varieties, they will probably not survive outdoors,so if you can pot them up,and keep them somewhere frost free, over winter, they should be ok..keep them on the dry side, and only water sparingly,to keep them ticking over...welcome to Goy,Kade21..:o)
