i have 3 miniature firs they are about 18 inches high in pots the one has developed brown patches on one side,can anyone give me some advise as to what is causing this and maybe a remedy please.

If it is Aphid damage would you spray with a normal spray for Aphids?or is their a special one for that particular pest.

As I said I'm no expert but I found this link for you:

But bear in mind it does say that Leylandii are the most susceptible and you say yours at dwarf ones. No harm in spraying it though to cover that angle.

I'm no conifer expert but browning can be caused by wind damage, by something too close obscuring the light, by clipping too closely or by one of those recently introduced aphid pests - there was a blog about it a few days ago.
Might be worth isolating it from the others just in case.
