Why are my so-called tomato bush plants such straggly plants spreading over 6 feet in diameter. They are no different to ordinary plants which would be the same if not nipped out regularly. The fruit is delicious and prolific though.

Some so-called bush tomatoes are bushier than others. Some seed companies even call all of their determinate (flowers at the end of the stem) tomatoes "bush", when the determinate flowering habit doesn't really have anything to do with growth habit.
