Pound shops usually sell the green pea sticks if you want short ones, but I find those metal spiral type ones very useful, specially if they're green. They're not particularly cheap to buy, but they do last. Wilkinsons sell those - they were selling packs of 3 off last year, though they weren't green and weren't long, but they've been useful anyway. If you have a branch of Wilkinsons, definitely worth a look this month - they usually start packing up the gardening stuff from now through till September, so often reduce stuff to clear the stock, and they do other kinds of plant supports too.
