Hi Dab you shouldn't get any fruit the first year. Are the raspberries growing new canes, ones that started to grow after you planted them? These are the ones that will grow your fruit for next year. Cut out the old, brown, canes that were there when you planted them. Raspberries fruit on 2nd year wood, as do brambles, logan berries, tay berries... any of the cane type fruit.
