Depends on its age, we removed one earlier this year which had been in the ground for well over 15 years. There was no way we could have repositioned it! If you feel it is small enough to move do so late September early October.

It was large and we never expected to save it. However, we salvaged a number of rooted shoots that I planted in a large container. These are now small, healthy plants and I will pot them up individually this autumn.
