I have a tree that bears fruit that is similar to cherry but they are yellow. the fruit tastes like cherry any idea what this is

There are varieties of cherry that have yellow fruit. Stella, Ranier and Frogmore Early are examples. Govenor Wood has yellow and red fruit.
