Hi Mr Iuis and welcome to GoY. Please could you tell us where you are on the planet i.e. UK, USA, France, Spain, India... The answers we give you are going to depend on knowing the sort of climate you have.
One thing though do not remove the sprouts from your seed potatoes, this is where the stalks and leaves will grow from.

As far as watering your plants, you'll have to monitor them. Stick your finger into the soil up to the 2nd knuckle. If the soil is dry, give them a good drink. As the strawberry vines grow, obviously they'll need more water. When they start to blossom, they will need yet more water. Also remember to feed them regularly too. They will deplete the nutrients in the grow bag very quickly. Visit your garden center to find the right one for you.
Same advice for your potatoes, you need to monitor them. If you have a couple rainy days, you don't need to do it manually. If you use a couple inches of garden mulch, that will reduce evaporation and your vegetables

You also need to plant your onion sets in the garden as quickly as you ca has they don't take kindly to being transplanted once they have started to grow. All vegetables need a lot of water to grow so follow Bathgate's advice. Make sure you don't let the soil around either the potatoes or the onions get dry as it will cause problems later in the year with there growing.

Mr_luis, the reason that we can't just say "Water once a week."or, "Water every other day", is that watering frequency depends on many factors that we cannot know, including the week's weather. So, instead we try to give instructions on how you can figure out your own watering frequency.

hi thank you for your reply . my onion set its indoors at the moment my strawberry are in the garden in greenhouse .so should i put the onion set in the greej house or just in my garden and can you help me aswell which food should i give them please thank you

Mr Iuis do not put your onion sets in the greenhouse, remove them from the pots you have them in (very carefully) and plant them in the garden in the soil, do not try to feed on anything at this time of year but, if it has been dry for a few days do water them. Mr Iuis I suggest you buy a beginners book on growing vegetables - something like Gardeners' World First Time Veg Grower
https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Gardeners-World-First-Time-Grower-Martyn-Cox/1846079209
Trying to give answers from someone who has never grown any vegetables before can be difficult, as we aren't sure just how much you do know. I think the majority of vegetables are extremely easy to grow and have been growing all my adult life and watched my father do so when I was a child so, I have a lot of inbuilt knowledge that I doubt you do have. All we can do is answer piecemeal each question or questions whereas if you have a simple book to hand you can read the correct section prior to starting to grow the vegetable concerned.

thanks for your reply i didnt put onions set in greenhouse but they are in my windowsil in small pots i put in my onion sets and they are in my windosil is it ok to be in window sill .ajd is it ok for strawberries to be in greenhouse or outside in my garden thats my last question thanks

The onion sets will be better off in the garden, now, though if they are already very leafy, you may want to spend a little time hardening them off before planting them. The same is also true of the strawberries, though in my experience, they are less resilient than onions, and may need a little more care in hardening off. Next spring, just plant the onion sets directly into the garden, as soon as the soil can be worked.

thanks i put the sets onions just 2 days ago in the pots they are not leafy and what about my strawberries i put them in greenhouse just 2 days ago is it ok in greenhouse or should i remove the greenhouse thank you

Welcome to goy Mr luis. After only 2 days inside the house or greenhouse your onion and strawberry plants will come to no harm if you plant straight in to your garden. The onions should be placed in the soil so that the top of the bulb can be seen. Make sure you plant them far enough apart from each other so that you can pull out any weeds that grow there. Weeds will rob your garden of food that the onions need. The strawberries do not need to be grown in grow bags but will be fine if you follow the advice given by Bathgate. pushing your finger in to the soil around any plant will tell you if it needs to be watered or not. I do not know where you live in uk but there has been enough rain in the Central belt of Scotland that I do not need to water anywhere in the garden. I have seeds in the greenhouse which sometimes need water if it has been very sunny. If you think of all the people who grow vegetables successfully it will give you the confidence to know that you can do it too. We all make mistakes at times and crops fail but we learn to live with that. Happy gardening. when you start feeding your plants tomato food is as good as anything.

No repeat NO feeding... please actually read the answers we've already given to your three questions. Do NOT feed. Keep the strawberries, in particular, well watered until they have established themselves. Potatoes and onions keep watered as necessary i.e. if you push your finger straight down into the soil and it is dry up to the 2nd knuckle water.

To put it plain and short, Mr_luis:
NO feeding at this time.
Plant the onion sets in the garden now. Plant shallowly, so that the tops barely show. Water deeply after planting, and then let the soil dry out about 4 cm deep before watering again.
Plant the strawberries in the garden now. Plant them so that the roots are barely covered, and the knots where the leaves are formed are exposed. Also water deeply after planting, but only let the soil dry 2 cm deep before watering again.
Plant the potatoes in the garden now. Plant the potatoes about 5-8 cm deep, being careful not rub off the sprouts in the process. Water them in deeply, then wait for the soil surface to dry to a depth of 4 cm deep before watering again.

2 Apr, 2017
YES plant your onion sets and the strawberries in the ground in the garden NOW!
And to repeat what Tugb. has already said:
lant the onion sets in the garden now. Plant shallowly, so that the tops barely show. Water deeply after planting, and then let the soil dry out about 4 cm deep before watering again.
You do not need to cover the strawberries with anything at all.

Previous question
« Can somebody please ID this plant & tell me a little about it? Is it friend...
Next question
Strawberries are VERY thirsty plants. The soil should be kept constantly moist, but not sopping wet. Be sure to poke a few holes in the garden bag so the plants can breathe and they don't drown.
