Sorry, can't comment on the specific but, based on recent experience here in the UK, I would say it is important to make sure you get a thorough evaluation and a firm price before the work starts. I'm fed up with hearing 'Now I've had a closer look...' followed by an increase in the ('it was only an') estimate.

There are very few GoY members in Australia so it is impossible for us to advise on a particular landscaping service, neither should we as we are all simply gardeners.

Given how few 'tree removal experts' are that I think one of the things you need to ask for is references from satisfied clients whom you can contact to know the company is telling the truth. Make sure you get a firm written quote which both you and the company sign before work starts and that it doesn't have any caveats hidden within it!

Good luck Beaumehaffey and welcome to GoY

Welcome from me too. Having had trees removed in my garden I feel you need the services of a tree surgeon. I googled Tree surgeon nsw Australia and there are a lot of them. You need to make sure they are fully insured. It will pay to decide whether you want them to remove the tree from the site before you make your choice. Some will chip the branches which can be used in your garden. some will cut the trunk in to sections suitable for using in place of slabs. The company you mention seem to be landscape /garden renovators so if you use them make sure they can handle the work. It depends on the size of the tree and the size of your garden. You say you just want it taken down - can you handle chopping it up? If it is a big tree are there any overhead cables to look out for? A forester cuts down a tree then cuts off the branches etc because they want nice long straight trunks. Tree surgeons climb the tree and tie off branches which are cut and lowered to the ground and cleared away before further cutting. If it is a big tree it is not a one man job. We had a team of five including two trained tree surgeons. We had seven and a half trees cut down over two days. Good luck and do show us how you get on.
