Oh, hold on, had another thought - you might mean pinching out growing tips on, say, seedlings, so that the plants get bushier? Would have been a lot easier if you'd given more info, I'm feeling like Sherlock Holmes right now...

Maybe it's in relation to pinching out the tips of plants to make them bushier ???
I agree, a bit odd, can you chat with a few more words Andy, it might help if we had a fuller picture.

Thanks for the reply. It's the instructions on an orange tree I have just purchased and wanted to make sure I was going to remove the right part of the plant

Welcome, Andyhubbard - ah, all is revealed, they mean the tips of the shoots, although, unless you're keeping it indoors, or in a warm greenhouse, I wouldn't be nipping any growing tips out at this end of the year.

What an odd question, I'm trying to figure out what on earth you mean. Growing tips can just mean information on how best to grow something; it can also mean the growing point of a plant, the very tip, in particular with Cordylines, for instance, they have a point at the top from which all new growth comes, and its called the growing tip. I cannot for the life of me, though, fathom why you would want to remove them.
