Can anyone tell me what to do with Poppys and Lupins that are going to seed. I'm a new gardener but grew both from seed earlier this year together with Nicotiana. All have bloomed beautifully but where do I go from here? Any comments would be much appreciated

Welcome, EFP!
Are the poppies perennial or annual?
If the lupines are the usual perennial hybrids, do you want to grow more from seed?
That info would help us answer better!

Your lupins are perennials so, unless you want more of them you don't need to plant any more seed. Which poppy are you referring to?

If you do want more Lupins you could save the ripe seed but they may well turn out a different colour.

Thanks to all who tried to answer my questions but I really am a novice and cannot say which lupins or poppy or whether they are perennial or annual. All I know about the lupins is that they are dwarf and the poppy were beautiful delicate, tall of various colours. They were almost like tissue paper so, of course, the wind took them prematurely.

Tugbrethil: Yes I would like to grow more from whatever means I have to but I don't know whether I should take the pods off the main stem and house them over winter of just leave them to do their own work. This could look rather messy as they are in large tubs standing on gravel. Likewise with the poppy, they are now pods - where do I go from her, I would very much like to see more of both next year.

All lupins are perennials so unless you want more than you already have you do not need to save seed. As Heron points out if you do the plants you grow will not necessarily be the same colour as your existing ones. Can't help you on the poppies - did you keep that packet the seed came in? This will tell you which poppy it is.
