Dear Garders, I have a small Norwegian Spruce (about 4ft tall) which lives in a tall pot (3ft deep). It has been a healthy little tree but last Christmas I brought it inside for 2 weeks - mistake! In the last month most of it's needles have died and fallen off, but there is a fair bit of new growth at the end of many branches. How should I encourage this young tree back to better health. Should I prune it? remove dead needles. Your advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Best Wishes,
Jacqui

Yes agree with bamboo, it will just grow from the tips and be sparse in the middle and look unnatural.

It might be salvageable as a large bonsai, but it will probably never look like a Christmas tree again. If you can plant it out on a large property, and let it grow to full size, it will eventually look like a normal Spruce with a 4 ft. trunk.

I'm sorry to tell you that, where there are dead, brown needles and stems, those parts will not regrow. It sounds like your plant is still alive, because its growing at the tips, but those dead parts will never regenerate - the tips will just carry on growing.
