Not waterlogged, but moist, ordinary soil.

Daphnes like a neutral soil with a pH of around 7.0. They are not acid-loving but will not do well in very limy soils. What is far more important is that they are planted in free draining soil, and even digging in a lot of bark at planting time will help. Don't overwater.
