Can somebody ID this plant please? I found it growing in my compost pile. It's got lance shaped leaves with slightly curled margins. thanks!

Peaches are out of season for me. Not likely to be a peach, unless the pit has been laying in there since last summer. Is that possible? A pear would be more likely. Could this be a pear sapling?

Well, peaches need to overwinter before they sprout, so it might be left over since last fall. From what I have seen, even as seedlings, pears have rounded leaves, much like apples, but glossier.

It looks almost like a seedling peach. Any peach pits in the compost?
