I have noticed a sprawling rambler type which is planted by councils on housing estates, shopping centres and such like - it looks like a creeping raspberry - with fruit identical to raspberries if not a little smaller and orange in colour - anyone any idea what this is and is the fruit edible ?

I've no idea but councils probably would not plant anything poisonous on a council estate. You could phone the local parks department, they should know.
