I have a Bramley apple tree 4 yrs old. The Ist year had one disfigured apple, the 2nd year had just two apples and last year none, (mainly due I think to really cold weather). This year I have a lovely crop but my problem is they are falling off the tree and have small brown holes in. When cut open they are bad inside. I still have some but as they are not pickable to next month even though they are large can any one tell me what is happening?

This is codling moth, not much you can do now, only make chutney with what is left of your fruit. Spray in the winter. Also put on grease bands for winter moth in October. Pick up any rotten fruit on the ground and put it in the bin.

Sticky traps for moths laying eggs are also helpful!
