how long should you leave a glasshouse that has been treated with Jayes fluid before putting plants in.

I have read the MSDS on this. If you intend to use this inside the greenhouse don't. Looks like this is for outdoor use only. Also, it is highly flammable so applying in a closed space might cause you to create an open space given a static spark. Please read the label on the bottle for hazard warnings. I mentioned this onetime before.... A friend of mine applied a fumigant in his greenhouse and he didn't make it out alive. Won't happen with jayes fluid but the vapors will not be good for either your lungs or eyes if applied in a closed space. It contains creosote which is a known carcinogen. I recommend anyone using an application for garden or home read the MSDS(material safety data sheet) before using or deciding to use. All MSDS sheets can be found on the web and are always interesting reading.Finaly, I always wonder how many gardeners developed ailments from the inappropriate use of applications over the years.

I've a feeling the Carolyn has already treated inside greenhouse with Jayes fluid, not something I would consider doing, Loosestrife. I've no idea how long it will take before she ca grow anything in the greenhouse how. suggest you contact the manufacturer Carolyn.

I must admit that I regularly used Jeyes Fluid diluted in warm water to disinfect the structure of my glass house and my old plastic pots. I then rinse with clean water. I have to say that as long as you follow the maker's instructions, i.e. don't use as a spray in confined spaces or ingest the fumes then I don't see a problem. Furthermore, if it was a danger to health, then the EEC would have banned it long ago. First patented 1877.

Does EEC stand for Extreme Effects Concentration or something else?

European Economic Community, Loosestrife, now more commonly known as the European Union - you know, that Union of countries we were a member of and, (sadly in my opinion), now are not. Rules about all kinds of chemicals for use by the general public were rigorously monitored by the EU, many products withdrawn, banned or instructions for use altered to reduce health and pollution hazards.

I agree with Jimmie, I use annually , diluted. Never had any adverse effects, just give it a good airing for a week and start using. Seems to kill off lots of bugs, never suffered from blight on my tomatoes .
