I purchased a butternut squash a couple of weeks back, scraped some of the seeds into a clear container with compost and stood on the kitchen windowsil, I now have 4 plants about win tall, will they produce squash to eat or come up blind?

Lots of soil, space, sun, and warmth needed, but very likely to produce if planted out when the soil warms.

Unless we have a stupendous summer and a long autumn its too late really to plant them outside in this country, as I discovered last summer... If they do set fruit limit it to three per plant.
