United Kingdom

Coco coir- Does anybody know if coir is a good medium to plant marigolds in please? Thanks

Wouldn't have thought so, it is used in hydroponics but I've not seen any reference to actually growing plants in it.

No, I don't think so either - best in the ground in soil or in multi purpose compost in a pot.

I agree on its own no, mixed into compost yes it is ok.

Thanks all I'll add some compost to it.It was sold as multi-purpose compost, didn't notice the 100% coco coir bit!

Pure coir is occasionally used as a potting compost here in the States, but I prefer to mix pumice and grit in with it for better aeration. No nutrient value, of course, so regular feeding is needed.

Hi Shaun..welcome to Goy. I once mulched with this product and then it occurred to me that it was a pretty dumb thing to do on my part as it has to travel thousands of miles to get to us and we have plenty of perfectly good compost made here in the UK! Just a thought...not a criticism :)
