Looks like aphids. You can shoot them off with the garden hose, or make a mixture of dish soap, water and a couple tablespoons of baking soda. Mix them them all together & spray your roses with it.

Those are aphids spray with a mix of organic washing up liquid and water making sure you spray the underside of the leaves too. 1 part washing up liquid to 10 parts water.

Hi Canalhopper. I tend to blast them with the hose. sometimes I use a pesticide gun (rose-clear) as this also helps to fight of blackspot and mildew. And I have a secret weapon...I plant herbs under my roses and I'd swear it really helps to keep the aphids off. Currently I am using a lot of culinary sage, and the only ones that have had aphids are the ones that didn't have sage under them...but they do now!

Many thanks for the advice. I'll blast them with the hose and then have a bash with the soapy water, and consider planting sage under them for next year.

How do I say thanks?
