Hi all.
We suspect we may have a bee problem. Over the past month or two we've had bees hovering around our guttering/eves. Over the course of time their numbers have increased and we assume there is a nest somewhere. Last summer we had birds nesting in our loft so this is accessible to them, however we have been up to look and can't see or hear (I assume we'd hear buzzing?) anything.
Usually I'd happily leave them in peace however it's getting to the point now that we can't open any of our upstairs windows without them coming in, and I am allergic to their sting so need to avoid this happening.
I have thought they may be mason bees but there does tend to be several of them at once rather than solitary bees. I don't have a picture of them but they seem to vary in size, more often they're smaller but there has been a couple of HUGE "bumble" bees hovering too.
Any advice on locating a nest/what to do now?
Thanks in advance!

And remember that the only bees which sting humans on a regular basis are Honey bees. All the rest of the family are either stingless, not strong enough to penetrate human skin or non-aggressive.
Shame you cannot get a picture of one, it would help us no end with advice.
We had a nest in our roof space. Drove us mad with the all night buzzing, but they went eventually.

Local council as already suggested, but also local beekeepers - you may have to pay them, but usually they're quite keen to come out and check and give advice.

They will usually only deal with honey bee swarms from what I have read elsewhere.

« Why would anyone put lengths of electric cable in their flower bed ?
I suggest apeaking to your local council. They should have a service that can deal with this without harming the bees. You'll have to pay for this but my council's charges are quite fair.
