Well lucky you Rozalia - you must be living somewhere its legal to have a bonfire - we're restricted in London.

I know outdoor bonfires are illegal in Ireland (didn't know about London) but we're OK here in Lancashire (although the local council cancelled last years Nov 5th bonfire on Health and Safety grounds!!).

Leave it entirely alone until March next year. Then get a pair of shears, loppers if there are flower stems, a rake, and wear a coat or something to cover your arms and gloves, the leaves are sharp and rough. You won't be able to take it to the ground, so hack it back to the centre all round, taking off all the long growths, till you've got a sort of stubby lump. Use the loppers to remove the flower stems as close to the base as possible. Now use the rake to scrape out any debris in the centre of the bush. Then clear up (the worst bit of this job!).
