I have just damaged one of the main stems on my courgette plant . It bent then split half way across. There is a little sap seeping out. It is not completely broken. Is there anything I can do, to ensure it 'heals' over. It is growing fast in a grow bag on the floor of my poly tunnel. Help !!
many thanks

Many thanks Seaburngirl. I did splint the stem and used duck tape to secure. Had no string/twine available - thought tape might be better to keep out bugs and bacteria?. Plant seems none the worse and has produced some baby courgettes since . Thanks for your advise

you could 'splint' it either side of the stem and then using thread/string bind the splint in place. however if it does heal you will have to loosen the string as the stem thickens as it grows. if it doesn't survive the binding then side shoots will take over so all is not lost.
welcome to GoY too :o)
