I planted a prunus Avium tree last year April / may time and it did reward us with some lovely little flowers. The tree has grown in size but did not bud any flowers this year. Look forward to any suggestions.

Trees often flower in the nursery pots, because their roots are restricted. When planted out, they often forgo blooming for the next year or two, while they concentrate on growing deep roots and strong trunks. As Sbg says, it will probably bloom next year, but don't panic if it doesn't, since it will almost certainly bloom within the following two.

welcome to GoY Amyjane.
the tree had its buds before you planted it. then it has taken time for the plant to settle in and get its roots down properly. I would expect your tree to flower next year. keep it well watered especially if we get any dry spells this summer.
