All of my clematis, both Montanas and Viticellas are putting on a lot of new growth but the new tips are being eaten. This is at a height of 6ft or more. I have tried slug and snail deterents and spraying with insecteside. Still they get eaten. Am I missing something?? Any help welcome! David

That's what I feared. Its just that a lot of the montanas are being trained along single wires, so the snails must be fairly acrobatic! I will keep up with my hedgehog-friendly traps! Thanks!

I have never understood how snails get to some of the places that they do... just know from finding them that they do so!
