A small one in a large tub with ericaceous/acidic compost yes, with the proviso you would need to water with rainwater. Growing in the ground would require you creating a very large planting hole and filling with ericaceous/acidic compost, feed the rhodo. with sequestered Iron, mulch with bark and water only with rain water.

We have several rhododendrons planted in our boulder clay plot. Most are OK but I think I need to follow some of Moon Growers advice and feed with iron as a couple are looking a bit sickly yellow.
