Hello, can anyone tell me the name of this bush, in flower now (July). We are new to gardening - how do we look after it? How do I take cuttings from it? (we have clay soil apparently!) Thanks

Thank you! I have just looked it up on images and am sure you are correct. Very kind of you to respond so quickly.

You're welcome :) I just happened to be looking in at that moment ...
I used to have one of these and that's why I thought I new what it was :)

I used to have this in my garden and found it suckered (sent out new shoots) all the time. I dug it up 3 years ago and still find shoots appearing. Pretty but a bit of a thug!

Thank you Shirley tulip. We have absolutely no idea about gardening. We were going to take a cutting (even though not sure how to do that!) to plant in another part of the garden - so do you think this is not a good idea (it looks really pretty at the moment, like pink cotton wool) but maybe it will turn into a monster? All our gardening so far consists of guessing and googling!

When I had one in my previous garden it was on a dry slope and it didn't spread too much, so it seems it depends where you plant it.

You could take softwood cuttings in Summer or propagate by division in Autumn or Spring. Probably too risky to move it now, better to wait until the Autumn. Depends on where in the UK you live really!
