We planted this Tamarix about 3 years ago,and during the spring it was a delight. If you can see from the photos there is quite a strong branch that wants to cross over and grow out to the left...would it cause any harm to shorten it substantially with cutters...or would you stake it...I would appreciate any advice. Pruning advice for these spring flowering ones is to prune back hard immediately after flowering - if you didn't do that, then cut that particular branch back now, but you may not get any flowers on that branch next year.
