Hi Sellina here, just wondering what I could plant in the tubs in my tiny garden, to give me some colour or at least something to look at until spring. Also in a previous question I spoke about an everlasting sweet pea, when it has finally finished flowering when should I cut it back, to get better growth next year. Thank you in advance. Regards Sellina.

hi have you thought about small evergreen shrubs like skimmia? they are forming flower buds now and they look good all autumn/winter too. depends how big the tubs are really.but there are some lovely variegated shrubs that do ok in tubs, such as euonymus as well as smaller hebes. pansies/violas look good and if you keep dead heading they will keep flowering unless it gets really cold. there are some pretty ivies as well as heathers that flower at different times of the year.

as for the peas, dead head them to stop them setting seed and you may get a late flush of flowers. I only cut mine down in the autumn when the foliage has died and gone brown. [sometimes they don't get tidied up until spring, depending on what else I need to do.

Thank you Seaburngirl. I'll try a mixture of ivies and pansies, as there usually very pretty. Regards Sellina46
