I have just moved into a rented house and there is a rather large fuchsia taking over! Can I trim it doe without damaging it in August? It really is beautiful!!

Well yes, if its blocking a gate or something, so long as you don't take too much. Pruning a lot at this time of year will encourage new growth later on, and it may not have time to harden off before we start getting frost at night, so just take off the bare minimum necessary, and none at all unless essential. Its usual to prune fuchsias back hard around April, as growth begins.

Not unless you have permission from the land owner.
