Is it possible I was sold black nightshade seeds instead of foxgloves? I bought the seeds and sowed them directly into the ground and black nightshade plants are growing exactly where I sowed them.

Black nightshade is frequently a gift from the birds, so it may have nothing to do with the seed company. I don't know anyone who deliberately grows or sells seeds for Black Nightshade, which is considered a weed in most places.

I've never known foxgloves not to germinate. Perhaps birds or something ate them & gave you nightshade in return. Best sow some more in a tray & prick out.

And, I would suggest you remove the black nightshade!

Thanks for comments I have tried to remove all the nightshade but I think I might have left some roots. really disappointed that the foxgloves have failed they should have been peach and cream. I know that they don't flower until the second year but I don't see any leaves.

Did you sow the seed directly into the ground or into a seed tray an then transplant? In either case how did you look after once you'd got the seedlings in the ground - water etc.

Hi Hinw and welcome to GoY well, it certainly looks like it but the foxgloves may have failed and the black nightshade appeared from elsewhere.
