Hello Everyone.
Can I ask a question about peonies please.
I bought two in the spring and planted both in the same bed. I haven't had any flowers off either and now one of the plants leaves are brown at the ends.
Any advice greatly appreciated as always

They are the tree type ones. So do the leaves fall off ? Its at times like this when I realise I still know so little about what I'm doing.
Do they like lots of water or not so much ?
Thank you :)

yes you will find they loose their leaves in the autumn. I don't give mine any special treatment. they are in an open aspect and just get the rain. when I first planted them they did get extra if it hadn't rained much for a couple of weeks.

Tree peonies tend to get rather large but, with the size of garden you have, that is not going to be a problem.

Do they Moon_Grower ?
I may have to move mine then as they are in a bed that might have some space issues as they get bigger.
Im lucky to have a big garden but placement is still something I should do more research on before I just put things in the ground willy-nilly.
Thank you.

They will grow to around 2 metres in height and can have a spread of about a metre. Big thing is not to over water.

oh crikey - yes they are definitely on the move. thank you

The best time to move them is immediately after the leaves have dropped in the autumn.

Great thanks....I'll put a tag on them for moving. I've made a few mistakes like this so I bought some red tape and Iwrite a date on it and attach it to the plant and make a note in my gardening diary :)

do you know of the reminder facility on here? I think it is in your garden section. I've started using it.

hi They often take a year or two to settle into flowering. are they the herbaceous ones or the shrubby tree ones?
if the former is the tuber just below the surface? it doesn't like being too deep.
I have both types and as for the leaf browning mine are starting to do that. this is normal at this time of year. so nothing to worry about.
