J have a very tall straggly Buddleia , when can I cut it right back to the ground as the flowers are now all brown.

Not convinced about right to the ground though. But you can certainly cut it back within a few feet of the ground.

You can cut back the stems by about 1/3rd in about a month then, if you so choose prune as short as you like in early spring.
