I have been growing a coco vine for 2 years now and it has produced a green pod which in the last few months has grown on the vine and has now burst. See photo. It has a llo of a seed pod which is covered in a cotton wool type of cover which feel soft. There are dark small spots which I think are its seeds. Is this unusual in middle England. And what happens next? Can the seeds be sown as seeds when it bursts? I have never seen anything like it.
I would be pleased for any info on this bean. Thank you Ann

Hi, welcome to GoY, I'm a little confused by your question, when you say coco, do you mean the plant which produces cocoa ? Theobrona cacao, this is not a vine but a tree, the vanilla bean is a vine, usually Vanilla planifolia, and produce beans about the size shown in the photograph, and it can't be Cocos nucifera, because that is the coconut palm tree, so we really need the name of the plant, if I were to gofor any of the above, it would be vanilla planifolia, but they need a lot of fiddling about to dry the pods ready for use, Derek.
