Hi , 5 years , bit of a wait , anyhow, I decided to trim my
olive tree (not in pot) , right back to last knuckle , within 2 months, little shoots started to appear. im trimming in a circular motion, building up growth, keeping height down. Now, a base shoot has appeared, I imagine if I cut this off, it would stimulate top growth. Anyhow, whatever its doing, its alive, healthy & strong. Bit like us over "40s" try to be !!!!

why not take it off and pot it up and see if it will root for you.
