You're welcome. I always get some winter-dieback with my roses. My winters are particularly harsh; that's why I wait until Spring. Roses don't like being cut too much so go easy on them.

Hi, you can cut them back by about 1/3 now, and then when they start to show new leaf buds in spring, cut them back to an outward facing bud, removing altogether any dead, diseased or crossing branches, try to maintain an open bowl shape to maintain good air circulation around the plant, you don't need to be too precise for the autumn cut back, that's mainly to prevent any wind rock, and you can use garden shears for this cut, but you must use secateurs for the main prune in spring, Derek.
