Last October I bought 12 purple sprouting broccoli plants from a garden center. They are now healthy plants 3 - 4 feet high but they have never flowered. Should I dig them up or wait a bit longer?

I don't like to waste anything so I will try to use the leaves for a stir fry and throw the stalks on the compost.

yes we did that too but I was so disappointed not to get spears.

I had the same problem with the ones I bought last year. they never flowered and got over 5ft tall. In the end I just dug them up as the info said they would flower may-july. some late august I gave up. the sprouts I planted 'blew' and we ate them as mine cabbages. they were lovely despite that.
