I lifted and stored my Gladioli Corms last autumn and stored them in my shed. Before I re-plant them in the spring should I remove the old corm (a new one has formed on top of the old one) and also should I trim the roots away.

I would break the old corm away--it should be pretty easy--and the new corm will have few or no roots, except some nubbins around where the the old corm was. Don't remove the papery tunics from around the new corm: they help prevent rot when you replant them.

I agree with Tug, pull the old one away and you may also find small cormlets tucked around it. these can be planted too but will take 3-5 yrs before they flower.

How do I say thanks?
