Its actually T Rex! Its Tetrapanax ‘Rex’, a stunning jungle effect perennial with huge leaves on a tall upright stem. Its a giant! Sadly too cold here for it.

It should be fine in Essex, but keep it protected from cold winds...they shred the foliage. :) good luck!
