Epimediums Flowering.
I notice in one of my borders that E. Amber Queen is flowering .... i thought they only flowered once and that was in the spring, do they also repeat again at this time of year ?

Hi Louise,

Although Epimediums do not repeat flower as a rule it's not unheard of for some to produce flowers in late summer. The very erratic weather that we've had this summer will have fooled some plants into thinking that it might be Spring.

'Amber Queen' is a lovely E. wushanense hybrid bred by Robin White in the 1990's, consider the un-seasonal flowers an extra bonus!

I've come to think that Ilex knows everything! :-)

My amber queen has also sent up a small flower spike. So I suspect it is down to the weather as Ilex suggests.

It's a queer thing, isn't it ?!
Especially considering that the temps i have here could be slightly different to yours there .... whatever it is, i'm happy to see them :-)))))
