Sounds like yours could do with regular feeding and watering with an ericaceous fertiliser, they are ok in a pot growing for a couple of years but as you are finding out it lets you know when its not happy ... I try not to prune but if you need to you can just after it flowers which should be about now ... but you must feed and water regularly and pot into a bigger pot if you can
