Thank you I thought it was an acer too but it looks more like a tree and it has little hanging things on it the red one has no thorns what a puzzle

The hanging things on the Acer are the flowers.

For my money i'd go with
1. acer
2 possibly the foliage of a magnolia
3 chaenomeles

No argument from me Sbg, possibly a stellata type, Derek.

The middle one is a fig tree.

1st Acer, 3rd Chaenomeles, but I did think the 2nd one could be a fig but only time will tell.

If its a stellata I wonder why it hasn't flowered.

See the lobed leaves at the top (left side) of the picture.

Hi Tug, you're quite right, I hadn't noticed them, until I enlarged the picture, my eyes must be worse than I thought,???, Derek.

The last one looks like Chaenomeles - if it has thorns. The first one looks like it could be a Japanese Acer. I can't tell what the middle one is.
