Hi, I have a tree fern where the main stem / trunk was damaged by frost some years ago. Now the only fond growth is low down on the main trunk, what is the best way to rejuvinate the fern so it looks better?

I agree with you - the top's died, no point leaving it in place, best to cut down to where its growing now.

can you add a photo. I suspect the old crown is dead and the new growth has come from the first viable bud. I think [but see if any one agrees with me] I would cut out the dead top growth. then the new fronds will take over as the central growth area and it will then look better.
welcome to GoY too
